Wilfred "Will" Otto Hellner
October 25, 1952 – July 22, 2024
KNIGHTDALE – Wilfred "Will" Otto Hellner, aged 71, peacefully passed away this Monday, July 22nd. Wilfred was a passionate, hardworking man who left behind a lifetime of memories to be carried on by his beloved family. Born in Germany in 1952 to late parents Otto and Elsa Hellner, he would later relocate to the United States and serve in the U.S. Marines, honoring the country he came to call home. Wilfred was extremely proud of his Marine Vet status. After his tenure in the Marines, he worked in healthcare as a Life Safety Inspector. Though Wilfred was devoted to his career, he had so much life to live outside of the workforce. He was a talented musician, and had a special knack for anything brass. If an instrument was brass, Wilfred could play it. He instilled his love of music in his family as well, it being something he shared with his wife and children. Together, they also took great joy in Wilfred's love for the water, especially the beach. He loved to fish and had a love of dolphins, for which he had a collection of dolphin themed items and trinkets. Music, boating, dolphins, dogs, his red corvette, and Reese's cups; all of these things that Wilfred loved have become a source of treasured memories for his friends and family.
Wilfred is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Elsa.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Hellner; son, Wilfred V. Hellner; daughters, Whitney Aman and Linette Breedlove; grandchildren, Alex Sambursky, Jackson & Colton Aman, Rachel & Steven Breedlove, Amber-Tell, Michael, Logan, Leana, & Hannah Hellner; great-grandchildren, Brayle, Laim, & Rory Welty; & his beloved dogs, Taco & Gabby.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 pm, Friday, July 26, 2024, at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will be held the next day, Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment will follow at Greenmount Cemetery.
