I'm so sad to hear of Tom's passing.
Tommy, as well as his brothers and parents, Alma & "Huck", always made me feel more like part of the family than just a friend. I miss each of them tremendously. Of my countless wonderful memories of them, the 4th of July parties during the 1970s & 80s stand out the most. With wall to wall lobsters and endless fireworks, we were always assured of a friendly visit by Braintree's Finest. It was a priceless gift being invited to those "family" gatherings each year!
One stand-out memory is the 4th of July I was in a body cast from under my chin to over my hips. Bobby, Tommy, and Al joked about the heavy plaster cast, saying "We could probably tie a rope around the neck of that cast and string you up, and it probably wouldn't hurt you a bit." I said, "Go ahead and do it!" They put a rope around the cast under my chin, placed the rope over a beam in the cellar and hoisted me off my feet. It didn't hurt or bother me at all, and we all laughed hysterically as they swung me back and forth under that beam. Hearing the ruckus from upstairs, mother Alma wondered what mischief her boys were up to. She came down the stairs to see what was going on. As soon as she saw me swinging there, she screamed, "CUT HIM DOWN! CUT HIM DOWN!!! She had no idea that all was well. This certainly created a priceless memory :>)
To the Holbrook family in heaven, you have my endless gratitude and love. Until we meet again, thank you so much for enriching my life the way you all did.
Sincerely, Tom C.
