Thomas A. Holmgren

Thomas A. Holmgren, age 74 of Yorkville, IL passed away at his home on September 3, 2024. He was born in Aurora, IL on January 16, 1950 the son of Robert and Inez (Stark) Holmgren. Tom proudly served his country with the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. He made a career as a journeyman electrician and was proud to be affiliated with IBEW Local #461. Tom was a loving father, grandfather, and brother who will be missed by his friends and family. Tom enjoyed a wide variety of music and had an extensive album collection. Camping on the Mississippi River was a passion. The time spent with family and friends who joined on these trips were very special memories for Tom. Most will remember his never-ending quest to find a way to take a hot shower on our remote island. Adventures and fishing in the "Clara Belle" were great fun for Tom. Tom is survived by his daughters, Katie (Justin) Heckelsberg of Pasadena, MD and Lindsay (Jeremy) Venturini of Rochester, IL; his former wife, the mother of his daughters, Anita (Applequist) Holmgren of Petersburg, IL; his grandchildren, Ian, Desmond, Nolan, Brynn and Henry; his siblings, Robert (Karen) Holmgren of Elburn, IL and Kris (Gary) Toft of Marsing, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Inez Holmgren; and his granddaughter, Jocelyn. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL at a later date.
