Retired US Air Force Master Sergeant, Thomas Wayne Holt, 88 of Martinsville, gained eternal rest at 7:50 PM on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, at his residence with loved ones by his side. His life began on Thursday, November 26th, 1936, in Milford, Illinois. Thomas was one of four children born to the late George and Marjorie (Wheeler) Holt. At the age of eighteen, Thomas enlisted in the US Air Force where he served his country with bravery for 20+ years. He worked as an airplane mechanic, eventually retiring as a Master Sergeant/E-7 on September 30th, 1974, from the Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California. During his tenure in the military, he was called to active duty on April 19th, 1971, serving until his retirement. After retiring from the US Air Force, he moved to Indiana and began a second career at Shadeland Automotive in Indianapolis. Thomas worked as the lead mechanic at Shadeland Auto for approximately 20 years, before retiring for a final time in 1994. Outside of work, he took pleasure in collecting guns and knives, fishing, riding motorcycles, and browsing Trader Bakers Flea Market in Martinsville. His greatest pastime was spending time with his family, specifically his grandchildren. Thomas is survived by his family including three daughters, Shirley Ann Farr and Tina Toppel (Barb) both of
Martinsville, IN, and Tammy Meyers (Charles) of Indianapolis, IN; two sons, Gary "Bud" Holt of Cloverdale, IN, and David Holt of Kentucky; sixteen beloved grandchildren, several great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann (Eversole) on August 27th, 2023; two brothers, Donald and Richard "Butch" Holt; and one sister, Marilyn Ziebart. Thomas's wishes for cremation are being honored by his children and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
