Obituary published on Legacy.com by Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center on Feb. 18, 2026.
Scott, who would have celebrated his 55th birthday this April, passed away suddenly leaving behind a lifetime of stories on Monday, February 16th, 2026, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Mooresville. Though his time here feels far too short, the laughter and memories he created will live on in everyone who is lucky enough to have known him.
Scott was born on Sunday, April 4th, 1971, in Greenfied, Indiana, to William Alexander and Scelinda Jane (Walker) Crae. He lived most of his life in Marion County before moving to Morgan County in 2012.
Scott lived life full throttle. He didn't just walk through life, he revved the engine, dropped the clutch, and held on. He loved pushing boundaries and doing things his own way. If you knew him, you know exactly what that means.
He had a lifelong love for fishing, Hot Wheels, dirt bikes, guns, and just about anything that came with a little adrenaline. Rules were often viewed as mere suggestions. He never lost that spark that kept him forever young at heart. One of the many stories of his, recently shared with his daughter, was about opening both the front and back doors of his childhood home and riding his dirt bike straight through the house like it was a racetrack. His mom loved that… or at least that's how he told it. He told his daughter, "I made sure it wasn't muddy before I did it" … as if to justify his craziness.
As fearless as he was adventurous, Scott loved his children even more than he loved the thrill. He was fiercely proud of Amber and Brian and supported them in his own unmistakable way. His grandchildren, Nova, Logan, Lexy, Rosalie, and Xavier, brought him enormous joy. They were his bragging rights and his soft spot.
If there's one thing everyone can agree on, it's that Scott loved a good prank, especially being the one behind it. Friends and family learned to double-check everything when Scott was around. His mischievous grin usually gave him away - but not always. Even if you were the target of his prank, you couldn't stay mad for long. His laughter was contagious, and he had a way of turning ordinary moments into unforgettable ones.
Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Scelinda Crae, and his brother Neil Crae. He leaves behind his loving father, Bill "Scottie" (wife, Lynn) Crae of Greenwood, IN; his daughter, Amber (husband, Ricardo) Rodriguez of Avon, IN; his son, Brian (wife, Brandy) Crae of Jesup, GA; his six cherished grandchildren; and his best friend whom many would say was his "brother from another mother", Chris Dugger of
Mooresville, IN. Chris was Scott's partner in crime in more ways than one. Their bond was unbreakable, built on shared adventures, loyalty, and a lifetime of stories that will likely get even bigger in the retelling.
Scott's legacy is one of bold living, deep love, and keeping everyone on their toes. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered every time a fishing line is cast, an engine roars to life, or someone pulls off a perfectly timed prank.
The best way to honor Scott? Live a little louder. Laugh a little harder. Maybe bend the rules just a bit. And always, always enjoy the ride.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 20th, 2026, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. Scott's earthly remains will be cremated following the visitation, honoring his final wishes.
