In Memory of Tom Inwood
Thomas Jay Inwood, age 80 of Arden Hills, MN passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025 in his home with family by his side.
Tom was born on May 18, 1945 in Rockford, Michigan to Ardis and Russell Inwood. He grew up on a 150-acre farm where he loved following his dad and Grandpa around as they tended to the animals and machinery.
After graduating from Rockford High School Tom continued his eduction at Western Michigan University earning his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering. From there he worked for Bendix, Clark Equipment, and Bombardier Corporation in Duluth, MN where he met his wife and soulmate Debbie. Debbie and Tom were married shortly after and moved to St. Paul where he worked for Surf-Jet Corporation and finished his career by starting and co-owning Engineered Finishing Corporation for 30+ years. Tom and Debbie were blessed with two daughters and raised them enjoying many activities and traveling together as a family.
Aside from his professional achievements, Tom was known for his caring and adventurous spirit. He valued his relationship with family and friends, always putting them first. Tom enjoyed the outdoors and loved downhill skiing, being on Ski Patrol for over 30 years, cross country skiing, boating, bicycle riding, marathon running, snowmobiling, dirt bike racing, street motorcycle riding, building and designing, and volunteer firefighting for 14 years. Tom was passionate about cars, a member of the Camaro Club and Corvette Club and won "Best in Class" for his 1969 Camaro that he was the original owner of and restored. He loved spending time with friends and family, traveling, cheering on his grandkids, playing a game of cribbage, and most summer sunrises he could be found on the lake, pulling his wife skiing with coffee in hand.
Tom is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie, and their two daughters, Heidi and Jenny. Heidi (Steve), Jenny (Ryan) and grandchildren Drew, Dylan, Savi, and Brax. He is also survived by his sister Karen (Bart), nephews Jeff (Pam), Marty (Nancy) and their children Zach (Addison), Kaiti (fiancé Case).
Tom will be remembered for his warm and steady presence and how he loved life and those around him. He will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.
Memorial service will take place at 3:00pm Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Washburn McReavy Shoreview Chapel. Visitation starting at 2:00pm. Reception to follow at the Haffeman Pavilion at the Shoreview Community Center.
