Thomas Aloysious Kapfer, 80, US Air Force, longtime Libertyville resident, passed away peacefully on Feb 22, 2024. Tom was born and raised in Iowa and moved to Lake County in the mid 1980's where he raised his family. He had a long successful career with the NCR. He was a man of strong faith being a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Church and volunteered for the Soup Kitchen. He loved following sports but Tom's greatest pride was his family. He loved supporting his children and is remembered for traveling with his daughter Katie to her many softball games. To his stepfamily and adoptive family, Tom was a beloved grandfather figure. He met his wife Teresita in 2006 and together they cherished their travels, especially their adventures in Hawaii and Alaska. Tom will be remembered as a wonderful man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Thomas is survived by his wife Teresita Isla Kapfer; his children: Lizbeth, (Michael Cattafesta- husband); Thomas L. Kapfer, (Richard Naples- partner); and Kathryn, (Michael Rash-husband); his grandchildren: Greg, Jon, Alayna, Ralph and Johanna; his step-children: Theresa Antonnette M. Isla (Tami) and Jason V. Santos (husband); Anthony Del M. Isla (Toni) and Kristin (wife); and Ted Amado M. Isla; his step-grandchildren: Jason, Jr., Jared, Aliyah, Isabella and Olivia; his adoptive family: Aashish Taneja and wife, Prachi and daughters, Aahana and Aadhya; and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas is preceded in death by his son Andrew Kapfer; his brothers George Louis (the late Zelda); Peter Daniel (the late Ernestine); Richard Clar (Carol) and sisters: Mary Ellen (the late Roger Marks); Anna Joyce (the late Richard Brack); Patricia Faye (the late Robert Kahler); Margaret Judith (the late William Behrens)
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 PM on Saturday February 24th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday February 26th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville.
