Thomas Kempf Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 18, 2024.
Thomas Andrew Kempf, "Big Tom", of Sylvania died of natural causes in his home on October 8, 2024 at the age of 59. He was born in El Paso, Texas on June 30, 1965 to Andrea (Stifel) and H. Richard Kempf.
He is survived by loving sons Spencer and Steven, who were his world. He is also survived by his sister Amy (John) Speweik, aunt Judy (Bill) Baker, uncle John (Cecy) Stifel and nephews, Alexander Speweik, Kyle Speweik, Mitchell Speweik, Nathan (Charlotte) Speweik and niece, Claire (Will) Woodhouse. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Edith (McWilliams) and Andrew Stifel and Louise Kempf. Also surviving is a cherished community of life-long friends who accompanied Big Tom on his life's journey through grade school, high school, marriage, fatherhood and beyond. Each one was an important friend and ally of the "Gentle Giant".
Tom graduated from Whitmer High School in 1983. He was a Journeyman tool and die maker. His career spanned many years of working at Ort Tool and Die and Kuka. He was an avid Detroit Lions fan. He enjoyed spending time with his sons and buddies. His kind gentleness and warm friendship will be sorely missed by many.
