Thomas Krushauskas Obituary
Thomas W. Krushauskas passed suddenly but peacefully at home on February 9, 2024. Tom was the husband and best friend of Helen (Cramer) for 52 years. He loved spending time at Sea Pirate Campground in West Creek NJ, relaxing by the pool or fishing and crabbing. If they were home in Philly, where they were members of Pennypack Woods Home Ownership Association for over 50 years, you would probably find him walking his furry daughter, Lola, working in the yard and his lovingly cared for garden, or filling his many bird feeders while chasing the squirrels away from the feeders. They raised his "favorite daughter," Cathie (Walker), and "favorite son," Tommy, there and he was thrilled when Cathie and Joe decided to raise their family in Pennypack too. He was the kind of Dad every kid wished they could have. Affectionate and silly, tough but a softie. He told his kids every day how proud he was of how far they'd come. He cheered every accomplishment and milestone. Tom never saw his children's partners as "in-laws." Tommy's wife, Jessica, was Tom's "favorite daughter-in-law." Cathie's husband, Joe, was Tom's favorite son-in-law, and frequent breakfast date. Tom was blessed with 5 beautiful grandchildren. Shai and Joey Walker. Emma Alullo. Adelynn and Owen Krushauskas. He adored them all and loved spending time with them when he could.
Tom retired from the UAW after previously working for General Motors in Ewing, NJ. Tom was a very proud Army veteran, stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, where he definitely left a piece of his heart. He often checked in on the area, sharing screenshots of the current temperature up there to his family. Tom loved to work beside Helen in their well-manicured yard where you would always find hundreds of flowers and vegetable plants. He loved feeding the birds that would visit and regularly filled nearly 20 bird seed holders and every Spring he would hang new birdhouses for his feathery friends. Helen had to draw the line when Tom suggested putting LED lights into each birdhouse. Tom was the go to guy when you needed something fixed or to borrow a tool or gadget. He enjoyed checking his webcams to see which animals were visiting their yard overnight and was excited to share the photos with anyone he could.
Tom was reunited with his Mother, Ruth, and Father, George as well as his little brother, Don. Tom's heartbroken sister, Joyce Elliott (Larry,) will miss him terribly until they meet again someday.
There will be a public viewing and celebration of Tom's life well lived on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Aldworth Funeral Home at 4117 Decatur Street in NE Philadelphia from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM. Burial will be private. He will be laid to rest at Washington Crossing Veteran's Cemetery.
