Thomas Edward Martin, 71, of Lyman, Maine, died on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Born in Quincy Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Edward and Marguerite Martin.
A graduate of Salem State University and a former longtime resident of Beverly, he had a career as a teacher and health-care administrator. He enjoyed a life-long love of carpentry, literature, and music. Above all, he was defined by his strong and loving relationships.
Tom was a humble man with a big heart and a robust sense of humor. He made friends wherever he went and held onto them throughout his life. He was particularly generous and attentive to children, whether they were his own two daughters, nephews and nieces in his large extended family, or children of his many friends.
Tom leaves his life-partner Margaret Rueter; his daughter Alice Martin, son-in-law Brennan Burns and granddaughter Molly Martin-Burns of Newburyport; his daughter Caroline Martin and son-in-law Jacob Korzun of Pittsford, NY; his sister Marilu Swett Spector and brother-in-law Carl Spector of Boston; his sister Jane Doncaster and brother-in-law Jim Doncaster of Knoxville, TN; his sister-in-law Daryl Martin of Poolesville, MD; his many nieces and nephews; his dear friend Kariann Owen, who was like another daughter; and his beloved dog, Ellie.
He is predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Susan and Patrick Hayes and his brother Michael Martin of Poolesville, MD.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Saturday, November 9th at 11 am. In addition to street parking, additional parking can be found in the Pond/Chapman Parking Lot off Pond Street, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tom's memory to the Kennebunk Land Trust or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com

To everyone close to Tom I am sorry for your loss. I remember most his boisterous laugh and our ability to talk about serious issues in a good natured way. Also of course the fun times back in the old days at Landmark School. I regret that I never made it up to visit in Maine even though we did talk on the phone several times. I chose to contribute to the Kennebunk Land Trust to keep the memory of him with his dog Ellie walking in the woods alive. I hope that provides some comfort to his loved ones. Bruce Stodsard
