Thomas J. May, 74 years old of Osceola, was welcomed to his heavenly home on December 6, 2024, after complications from diabetic issues. He passed away at the Hospice Center in Elkhart. Thomas was born in South Bend, Indiana and has been a lifelong resident of the area. He was baptized in May 1950 at St. Peter Lutheran Church where he was also confirmed as a child of God in May 1964. Thomas graduated from Penn High School in 1969 where he became an outstanding wrestler and football player. He was a 1973 graduate of Ball State University where he also received his Master's degree.

Thomas was employed at School city of Mishawaka as a teacher and coach for over 30 years. He married Marcia (Fitz) May on October 9, 1976. They built their own log cabin on the family farm. Being on the farm brought Tom so much joy. Thomas was the manager of Mishawaka Pilots Club for many years. He loved flying his plane and enjoyed his many friends from the airport. Tom loved his family deeply and always looked forward to family gatherings.

Surviving family members include his wife, Marcia May, his brother, Reverend Dr. Daniel (Judy) May of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, his brother, Reverend Edward (Diane) May of Jackson Wisconsin, sister Linda (Dave) Risner of Edwardsburg, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Henry and Marguerite May.

Tom is my brother and his passing has been painful for me. He was and is beloved by his family. He and Marcia chartered a bold and distinctive path in life. Along the way he touched the lives many students, parents, teachers and local residents and certainly the entire May family. We miss him and I thank God for giving me such a brother. I have a number of hand-crafted items that he made in his woodshop and they will always be personal treasures. We do grieve, but we do not grieve as those who have no hope because our hope is in the risen Christ. As much as he loved the farm and his self-made home they cannot compare to the place God has prepared for him. This year he is really home for Christmas!
