Thomas McFeeley Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Thomas R. McFeeley, affectionately known as Tom to his friends and family, passed away at the age of 88 on April 21, 2025, in Springfield, PA. Born on February 1, 1937, in Pittsburgh, PA, Tom was a man of remarkable character and an embodiment of the values of love, kindness, and generosity. He was the true definition of loyal.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Ruth, who was his rock and partner in every aspect of life. He is survived by his children, Thomas McFeeley, Daniel McFeeley, and Maureen McFeeley-Dillow. Tom was a cherished grandfather to Heather, Tommy, Sean, and Deaton, and a proud great-grandfather to Lyndsey, Jaxon, Emma, Liam Jr, Mackenzie, Jamison, and Brooklyn. He is also survived by his siblings, Jack, Bob and Maureen. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Liam, and his son-in-law Mike Dillow. His parents Thomas McFeeley and Blanche Berry-McFeeley.
Tom's early years were spent in the pursuit of education and professional growth. After high school, he dedicated himself to studying at a business school in the evenings while also embarking on a career that would span decades. Starting at the age of 18, Tom joined the Pennsylvania railroad and demonstrated an exceptional work ethic and intellectual curiosity. His determination and intelligence propelled him through the ranks, eventually leading him to a successful career as an industrial engineer with Conrail. His colleagues remember him as a man who wore many hats with ease and grace, always willing to lend a hand or share a word of advice
Beyond his professional life, Tom was a man of diverse interests and passions. In his early years, he found great joy in golfing, a hobby that allowed him to embrace the outdoors and engage in friendly competition. As his children grew, he became their biggest fan, enthusiastically attending their sports and musical events, cheering them on, and offering support at every turn. Tom was also a voracious reader with a keen interest in business reports and Forbes, and he relished the challenges and triumphs of the stock market.
Summers brought joy to Tom, as he cherished time spent with his family at the Jersey shore. These moments by the sea, surrounded by loved ones, were some of the happiest in his life. There, memories were made that would be treasured by his family for generations.
Throughout his life, Tom's loving nature was evident to all who knew him. His kindness touched the hearts of many, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was a man who put family and friends above all else, and his presence was a source of comfort and stability.
Thomas R. McFeeley leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love and steadfast dedication to his family and community. His life was a testament to the power of hard work, the importance of education, and the enduring strength of family bonds. We celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
