Thomas "Tom" McPherson, 34, of Leland, North Carolina, formerly of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2025.
Born on April 10, 1991, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Thomas was raised in North Smithfield. He went on to earn his associate's degree from the Community College of Rhode Island, and most recently completed the CNC Computer Machining Program at Cape Fear Community College, a reflection of his dedication to mastering his craft and his drive to start a meaningful and hands-on career.
Thomas was known for his quiet strength, generous heart, thoughtful nature, and unwavering loyalty. He nurtured deep lasting relationships, some of which began in childhood and remained strong throughout his life. His calm presence, quick wit, and generous heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
In his free time, Thomas enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, acting, drawing, painting, photography, and poetry. A truly creative soul, he found joy in expressing himself through many forms of art. Whether he was playing his guitar, singing quietly off to the side, bringing a character to life on stage, or capturing a fleeting moment with his camera phone, Thomas brought beauty and emotion to all, leaving behind moments of stillness, wonder, and truth. His work was more than expression-it was reflection, layered with meaning and a quiet power that stirred the soul.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and Diana McPherson of Leland, NC., and his brother, Justin McPherson of Miami Beach, Florida, his grandparents, Joan McPherson of Douglas, Massachusetts, Arthur Menard and Gloria Menard of Cumberland and many other family members and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug St., Douglas, MA on April 11, 2026, at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to assist with their unexpected funeral expenses. A Donation Link can be found HERE
