Husband, father and friend, Thomas Edward Messerschmitt passed away at the age of 91, in Forsyth, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. He was known by his family and friends as "Tom". He was the son of Bradford and Gladys (Roysdon) Messerschmitt. Tom came into their family on June 21, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Tom attended and graduated from Mt. Healthy High School, in Ohio in 1951. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps upon graduating and served during the Korean Conflict. Tom received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Ribbon. After his release from the Marine Corps he worked as a salesman for many years, then as a ceramic tile setter for more than 20 years and took great pride in his craftmanship.
He married his lovely wife, Eve Judith Norris, on Sept. 18, 1982, in Naples, Florida. This past fall they had celebrated forty-two wonderful years together. They were blessed with one son.
Tom was an avid sports fan of all sports and excelled in all that he participated in. To this extinct he was a baseball umpire for men's ball teams, he was a competitive shooter and reloader and took part in shooting competitions and enjoyed watching all sports on TV in his later years. Tom had a collection of 1/48 scale World War II planes, which he assembled himself. He attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Branson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters Kimberley Comeaux, Connie Smith and his two sisters Eleanor and Janie.
Tom is survived by his lovely wife Judy Messerschmitt of Forsyth; only son Josh Messerschmitt; and an only granddaughter CJ Norma Smith. He will also be missed by many other family members and friends.
The burial was held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, with full military rites being provided by the Veterans of the Ozarks and United States Marine Corps. Celebration of life service will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 224 Church Rd., Branson, MO at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Arrangements were under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, Forsyth, Missouri.
