HEDRICK-Connie Messerschmitt, age 81, of Hedrick, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at her home.
    Connie was born December 5, 1942, in Sigourney, to Brady and Mabel (Rider) Showman and graduated from Sigourney High School. On July 2, 1961, she married Gary Messerschmitt in Sigourney. A homemaker, Connie enjoyed mowing, Hawkeye sports and feeding the birds and ground squirrel.
    Survivors include three children: Paula (Shannon) Messer of Fairfield, Michael (Lavada) Messerschmitt of Martinsburg and Willy (Loretta) Messerschmitt of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren: Marisha, Ashley, Erin, Cody, Kendra, Jamison, Alex and Abi; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters: Mildred Hartson of Cedar Rapids and Virginia Glick of Cody, Wyoming and one brother: Thomas (Kathy) Showman of Otterville, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Gary in 2020; two sisters: Mary Showman and Dorothy Jacobs and three brothers: Danny Showman, David Showman and Donald Showman.

    Connie will be cremated and family services will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for Arndt-Bollin-Stubbs American Legion Post #83.  Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Connie and her family.  Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
