Thomas Earl Montgomery was born April 25, 1936, to Clayton Montgomery and Lila McLean Montgomery near Crowley,Texas. He grew up in Joshua, Texas.

In 1955, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany for 26 months. For many years, he owned and operated "Earl's Garage" in Joshua. He enjoyed helping people keep their cars running. He also loved to fish, both locally and deep-sea fishing with friends.

He served on the Joshua City Council for several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church Joshua. Earl was a Master Mason and Past Master at Caddo Grove Masonic Lodge #352 in Joshua.

Earl is survived by his sons, Steve Montgomery and wife Marie of Joshua, and Robert "Bob" Montgomery of Cleburne; and his daughter, Samantha Montgomery of Stephenville. Grandchildren include Linzi, Tawny, K.C., Ashley, Adam, Arron, Amber, and Dakota Rogers. He is also survived by his brother-in-law David Thornton and sister Glenda Cox.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay Nell Teague Montgomery; sons Stanley and Logan; stepson Kenneth Rogers; his parents; his sister Carolyn Thornton; and his brother-in-law R.B. Cox.
