Thomas Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mercer-Adams Funeral Service on Dec. 28, 2025.
Thomas "Tom" Clayton Moore passed away from this life to his eternal reward on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. His friendly and outgoing spirit left a great host of friends and family to mourn his passing.
God and his church have been a priority in Tom's life. He was baptized into the Church of the Nazarene as a young man. After meeting and marrying the love of his life, Zula Fae Hickey, they became charter members of Council Road Baptist Church in Bethany, Oklahoma. He served as chairman of the deacons and willingly volunteered anywhere he was needed.
Tom worked his way through college at Sears, Roebuck and Co. and was still able to graduate from the University of Oklahoma in 4 years. His career with Sears lasted over 30 years. Tom eventually moved to Newcastle, Oklahoma where he was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Newcastle, before helping start the "Cowboy Church." There he would often play his harmonica and recite "Cowboy Poetry."
Tom helped his son, Clay, start a new venture when they purchased the Route 66 Auto Auction in El Reno, Oklahoma. His contribution was critical in getting it off the ground and without his efforts, they might not have made it through the first year. Sixteen years later, he still asked Clay every Friday, "How many did we sell?"
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Zula Fae Moore; parents, Thomas Gurth Moore and Katherine "Katie" Moore Mayhew; stepfather, J.B. Mayhew; son-in-law, Ivan de la Torre; and grandson, Joseph Galli.
He is survived by his four children, Beverly Smith, Nathan Moore and wife Amy, Clay Moore and wife Cyndi, and Carol de la Torre-Hill and husband Eric; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Wesley Moore and wife Linda; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
