Obituary published on Legacy.com by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home - Dublin on Jun. 29, 2025.
Thomas J Perry, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on June 28, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 20, 1940, in Greenville, Mississippi, to the late Thomas Joshua Perry and Ruth Lea McQueen Perry, Thomas's life was a testament to his faith, his love for his family, and his dedication to his community.
Tom spent his formative years in the heart of the Mississippi Delta before pursuing higher education. He attended Mississippi State University and graduated from Delta State University. His academic achievements laid a strong foundation for a successful career. Tom dedicated 33 years to Mohawk Carpet and 26 years to Dublin Construction, where his work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who knew him.
A devout Christian, Tom was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church in
Dublin, Georgia. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he lived it out through his involvement in the Forum Sunday School Class and his service on the School Board. Tom's love for his community was further expressed through his membership in the Buckeye Supper Club and his service in the United States National Guard from 1962 to 1968.
Toms's life was enriched by his beloved wife, Bessie Jones Perry, and their children, Catherine Engelbracht (Tim) of McDonough, GA, and Matt Perry (Shannon) of Dublin. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jessica, Abby, Matthew, Erin, and Ben, who will forever cherish the memories of their loving grandfather. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Anne Scott, who, along with the rest of the family, will miss him dearly.
A man of many interests, Tom was an avid NASCAR fan, and his passion for tools was unmatched. He had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything he set his mind to, and his love for working with his hands was a joy to behold. Tom also found pleasure in reading fiction books, which allowed him to explore worlds beyond his own. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Tom Perry was the embodiment of love, thoughtfulness, and handiness. His presence brought comfort and stability to those around him, and his thoughtful nature made him a pillar in the lives of many. As we mourn the loss of such a remarkable man, we also celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, faith, and service. Tom's legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all.
As we bid farewell to Tom, we take solace in the knowledge that he is at peace with his Heavenly Father. We are comforted by the words of Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Tom Perry's life was a blessing to us all, and his memory will forever be a beacon of love and faithfulness.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at First Baptist Church in
Dublin, GA. Dr. Cliff Morris and Dr. Darryl Paulk will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. David Davis, Tony Pope, Ben Hall, Matthew Perry, Ben Engelbracht and James Hutcheson will serve as pallbearers.
