Thomas Alan Pruitt

Thomas Alan Pruitt, age 72, of Saint Johns, MI, passed away on May 3, 2025.
Tom was born on September 3, 1952 to Mary and Bob Pruitt in Battle Creek, MI. He was a devoted husband, dad, papa, and friend. He graduated from Saint Philip Catholic Central High School in Battle Creek and began working at General Motors in Kalamazoo shortly after. He raised his four daughters in Battle Creek and then retired from the Lansing plant in 2000. Shortly after, he married the love of his life, Julie Sellek, in 2000 and acquired another daughter and finally a son.
Tom was an avid runner in his early years and even ran the 100th Boston and New York Marathons. He loved going to the Big House with his friends and family to watch University of Michigan football. He was a forever fan, and you could always count on seeing him about town in his UofM gear. Tom's charisma won him friends wherever he went. Tom would skillfully serenade his friends, family, and strangers with his famous sense of humor, which he applied to the wide range of songs that he knew. In his later years, he enjoyed his daily crossword, chatting it up at various breakfast spots, dreaming of his next muscle car, woodworking, seeing his grandchildren, watching movies, expanding his whiskey palate, and driving around with Julie.
Tom is survived by his wife, Julie Sellek; his sister, Nancy Redmond; his children: Tina Pruitt-Fleisher, Lisa (Jason) White, Dana Edwards, Erin (Ben) Marcantel, Alicia (Jesse) Truitt, and Sean (Hattie) Metcalf; his nine grandchildren: Trenten (Mckenzie) Pruitt, Alex Newman, Ethan Newman, Simone Marcantel, Aubree White, River Edwards, Finn Truitt, Sky Edwards, Asher Truitt; great-granddaughter, Giavanna Pruitt; many nieces and nephews; and his dearest friend, Chuck Craft. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Pruitt; his mother, Mary Pruitt; and his brother, Bryan Pruitt.
The celebration of life will be on June 8, 2025 from 1-3pm at the Bedford Area Lion's Club at 22125 Bedford Rd N, Battle Creek, MI 49017. If you would like to make a donation, give a monetary gift to an organization of your choice in Tom's name. Go Blue!
