Thomas "Tom" Scheucher Jr.

Thomas "Tom" Scheucher, Jr., 81, of Elberfeld, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. He was born June 25, 1944 in Boonville, IN to the late Evelyn (Flint) and Thomas Scheucher, Sr.

Tom was a graduate of Boonville High School. He worked at the Squaw Creek Coal Mine. Tom was a member of the United Mine Workers of America #1189 and the Hadi Shriners. He was a deer hunter and also enjoyed fishing. He was an active member of the Boonville Gun Club. Tom was an avid gardener who grew hardy, delicious vegetables and the best tomatoes around, as well as beautiful flowers.

Tom is survived by his wife of nine years, Janet (Bumb) Scheucher; stepdaughter, Michele (Scott) Schapker; stepson, Scott (Ellen) Stratman; grandchildren, Jill (Matt) Janssen, A.J. (Elizabeth) Schapker, Marley (Max) Gamble, Sam (Melissa) Stratman, Leila Stratman and Patrick Stratman; great-grandchildren, Jake and Ella Janssen, Meredith, Lizzie and Blair Schapker and Todd Gamble; sister, Brenda Chambers; and a niece, nephew and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Chris Forler officiating.

Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Evansville.
