Thomas Gary Schmidt

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas Gary Schmidt, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who departed this life on September 9, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on June 13,1952, to parents Joe E. Schmidt and Martha Nell Schmidt, Tom lived a full and vibrant life, cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Yvonne; their daughter, Rebecca Swayze; and son-in-law, Allen Swayze. He took immense pride in his family and cherished every moment spent with them. His legacy will undoubtedly live on through their memories and stories that will continue to be shared for years to come.
A man of many passions, Tom found joy in the hunt - not only in the pursuit of wildlife but also in seeking out Indian artifacts. He embraced the thrill of the chase, whether it was through the quiet woods or fields, or the exhilarating races of homing pigeons. Tom also loved the rodeo and was a bull rider for several years. These hobbies brought him immense joy and connected him to the history and rhythm of nature, fostering friendships and creating lasting memories.
In accordance with his wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate this remarkable man's life, allowing his family to honor his memory in an intimate setting. While Tom may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
