He was born to Derald W. Smith and Andrea K. Risse on October 4, 1981, in Alliance, Nebraska, where he spent most of his life.
Tom graduated from Alliance High School in 2000 and went on to work at Pepsi in Alliance and later at Parker-Hannifin. Outside of work, Tom had a passion for cars and trucks, the San Francisco 49er's and Nebraska Cornhusker football, and also enjoyed riding ATV's, especially around Chadron State Park. But more than anything, Tom loved his children.
He is survived by his parents, Derald and Rhonda Smith of Alliance and Andrea and Gabe Schaffer of Gering; his children, Anastasya "Anya" Smith of Rapid City, SD, Lailee Smith of Chadron, and Thomas Smith, Jr. of Chadron; his brother, Tyler (Kelsey) Smith of New Ulm, MN; and his sister, Lindsey Larez and family of Scottsbluff. He is also survived by his grandparents, Bert (Lynn) Finlayson, and Connie Laing, all of Alliance; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chuck (Jean) Smith; grandfathers, Vern Pfannenstiel and Tom Laing; great-grandparents, Matt (Lauretta) Risse; and his uncles, Roger Smith and Jim Green.
Cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held at this time.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
