Thomas Rich Taylor, age 4, known affectionately as Tommy, Snakes, or Tom-Tom to all who knew and adored him, passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Tommy was born on Thursday, May 21, 2020, to Benjamin and Lacey (Alexander) Taylor, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Tommy's education began at the kitchen table, where he attended homeschool preschool alongside his twin sister, Lottie and his siblings, Ira, Luka and Hattie. Tommy had a curious nature and loved following around his big brother and daddy where he started learning many lessons long before pre-school even started. He was a carefree four-year-old that was always ready for the sweetness of gummy worms and the cool surprise of popsicles on a hot summer day. He was a young outdoorsman at heart, always eager to join his family in hunting, fishing and boating. He looked forward to visits from grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. His storytelling was legendary, he could always spin the best tall tale. Tommy also had his daddy's knack for taking things apart and could dismantle anything in sixty seconds. Most of all, he loved snuggling with his mom and dad. Little Tommy knew unconditional love, laughter and joy every day of his life.
His family includes his parents, Ben and Lacey Taylor of Oskaloosa, brothers and sisters, Ira Taylor, his twin Lottie Taylor, Luka Taylor, and Hattie Taylor; grandparents, Tommy and Robin Taylor of Eddyville and Charlie and Deb Alexander of Cedar; great grandparents, Janet Edgren and Gary and Connie Alexander; aunts and uncles, Whitney (Tyler) Baethke, Mackenzie (Zack) Bandow, Sam (Natalie) Taylor, Karlie (Jaden) Scott, Logan (Whitley) Alexander, Tarah (Marcus) Giltner, Tasha (Jevin) Jensen, Torie Alexander, and Thane Alexander; and many cousins.
Tommy was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Delbert and Virginia Taylor, Karl Rich, Judy Jordan, and Clifford Edgren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at CENTRAL CHURCH in Oskaloosa with Pastor Rodney Stodghill officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Eddyville. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Monday, September 16, 2024, after 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 4-8 Monday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the family.
