Thomas E. Trippy

THOMAS E. TRIPPY, of Oviedo, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on January 17, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on May 6, 1942.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, J.K. Trippy, and his mother, Laura Elizabeth "Betty" Trippy.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Martha Trippy; his daughter, Rebecca Trippy; his son, Michael Trippy: and his sister, Elizabeth McCabe of New Carlisle, OH, all of whom will deeply miss his presence, guidance, and steadfast love.
Thomas was a proud graduate of Marshall University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He maintained a lifelong connection to the university and was a dedicated fan and supporter of Marshall Athletics, taking great pride in its traditions and successes.
Thomas dedicated much of his professional life to public service. He served with honor and distinction in the Huntington Police Department, retiring in 1993 with the rank of Captain. His career was marked by leadership, integrity, and a strong commitment to the community he served.
In retirement, Thomas pursued his lifelong passion for restoring classic cars and motorcycles. He found great satisfaction in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and bringing new life to vintage machines, a hobby that reflected his patience, skill, and appreciation for history.
Thomas will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a respected law enforcement officer, and a man who took pride in both his service and his passions. His legacy lives on through his family and all those whose lives he touched.
There will be no service to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local Fraternal Order of Police or a local hospice provider.
