Thomas D. Trovato Sr.

Thomas Donald Trovato Sr., born on February 17, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, peacefully passed away at his residence in Chesapeake, Virginia, on August 23, 2025, at the age of 75.

Throughout his life, Mr. Trovato demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment in his professional endeavors, particularly in the field of maintenance within engineering.

Thomas proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. He pursued higher education with three years of college studies, which laid a solid foundation for both his professional and personal interests. In his personal life, Thomas was a passionate coin collector. He also had a strong interest in golf, though he never actively played the sport.

Above all, Thomas valued his family and treasured the precious moments spent with them. His occasional attendance at services at Harvest Assembly of God church in Chesapeake reflected his spiritual pursuits and the community he found there.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Trovato; his son, Thomas Trovato Jr.; his great-granddaughter, Maliyah Holloway; and his loyal dogs, Layla and Diesel. He is survived by his loving daughter, Nikia Steinhauser and her husband Joseph of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and his dear friend, Brenda Swain, with whom he shared his daughter. His legacy continues through his four devoted grandchildren: Taylor Trovato (Brian Wulfe), Hailey Holloway, Katelyn Jacobs, Jayden Jacobs, and Cameron Trovato, as well as his five cherished great-grandchildren: Zoey Holloway, Trinity Jacobs, Micah Creekmore, Alexia Creekmore, and Brighton Williams. He also leaves behind his nephew, Anthony Genitempo, and his adored dogs, Roxy, Cooper, Milo, Andy, and Gumball.

A celebration of Thomas's life will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Red Wing Park, located at 1398 General Booth Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Family and friends are invited to share their memories and express their condolences at www.omanfh.com.
