Thomas E. Vick Sr., better known as Tommy, to just about everyone who knew and loved him, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Justice, Illinois, at the age of 78.
Tommy was born on July 3, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, and proudly served his country as an Army Vietnam veteran. He was a man of quiet strength, steady presence, and a heart that always had room for others.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna (Ohlson), his best friend and partner. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and family. Tommy was a proud dad to Thomas Jr. (Evette), Patrick, Lynda (Reed) Townsend, and Lori. Tommy held a special place in his heart for his niece Genia, who he loved like his own. He also adored his grandson Ronnie, who brought him endless joy and meant the world to him.
Family meant everything to Tommy. He deeply loved his siblings: Donald (Winona) Vick, Bonnie (the late Duaine) Staggs, Daniel (Synthia) Vick and brothers-in-law Eugene Ohlson and Larry (Rita) Ohlson.
Cherished uncle, great-uncle, cousin, and friend to many, he was someone everyone could rely on - always thoughtful, dependable, and kind. Tommy worked hard throughout his life to take care of the people he loved. He was the guy with the best stories, the calm in the storm, and the kind of friend who made you feel like family.
Whether you knew him for years or just shared a moment with him, you probably walked away feeling a little lighter, a little more cared for. That was just who he was. Tommy's absence will be deeply felt, but his love and legacy live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We'll miss his voice, his humor, and the quiet way he made life better just by being in it.
