Army Captain Thomas Weidle It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce that our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Army Captain Tommy Weidle, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his home in Fredericksburg, VA. Tommy's death is actively being investigated as a homicide. Growing up in Fairview, PA, Tommy was deeply loved by all who knew him. He was the first to help anyone while providing his ever positive, calm, and optimistic personality. Starting young he greatly enjoyed the competitiveness of sports, particularly excelling in football. While in high school, Tommy was named the breakout athlete of the week, and District 10/Region 4 Defensive Team Honors. He continued his love of football at Juniata College before transferring to Bloomsburg University and completed his BS in Criminal Justice with honors as an Army ROTC graduate in 2016. As a commissioned U.S. Army officer, Tommy dutifully served for more than 7 years as a Military Police Officer, primarily in South Korea and Fort Irwin, CA. While at Fort Irwin, Tommy was a project manager who provided oversight for operations, personnel management, training readiness, policy development, and organizational compliance, for three supporting divisions comprised of 230 employees. Tommy completed his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2023. He had a smooth transition to civilian life, beginning a career in 2024 as a business management consultant with SCT near Washington D.C. In the last years of his life, Tommy could be found watching any Ohio State University sporting event with friends, backcountry camping through our nation's National Parks, and convincing anyone who would listen to come fishing with him. We love you Tommy and will forever miss you. Our lives will never be the same without you. Tommy is survived by his Mom and Dad (Suzanne and John); brother and sister-in-law (Johnny and Caitlin), Grandparents Papa and Nana Brady; his dedicated Aunts and Uncles Bert and Liza Weidle; Frank and Cindy Macko; Scott Rogers and Pam Brady; Dan and Lisa Grosch; 12 loving cousins and their beautiful spouses; additional great cousins, and countless supportive and loyal friends too numerous to name. The Funeral Service is being held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506. Calling hours will be from 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 pm followed by a Military Service with Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be sent to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306 (T2T.org) or the Animal Resource Center of Danville, PA (nokillarc.org). We welcome all friends to join the family for the funeral service.
