Thomas Yost Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 7, 2025.
Thomas Leonard "Tom" Yost passed away on October 4, 2025, in El Mirage, Arizona. He was born on January 29, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Nicholas Peter Yost and Marion (Weber) Yost, and grew up in Shaker Heights.
Tom attended Arizona State University and later made Phoenix his home-a city he fell in love with during his college years. He raised his children in Denville, New Jersey, before settling permanently in Arizona. A lifelong learner, Tom loved to keep his mind active and took continuing-education classes through the RISE lifelong learning program.
Tom enjoyed a long, successful career in sales, often ranking among the top nationwide. He carried a catalog of jokes and a gift for timing-clients were known to start laughing the moment he walked through the door. Later, he practiced hypnotherapy in the Phoenix area, helping clients work through trauma, addiction, and other personal challenges.
Devoted to family above all, Tom was a highly committed father and a deeply devoted husband. He coached his kids in baseball, led Indian Guides, and opened his Denville home to underprivileged kids during summers. He was always available to help friends and family when in need.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Peggy Sharpe Yost; his brother Nicholas Edward Yost; his children Brian Yost (Michele), Eric Wehrkamp, Paul Yost (Karen), Gary Wehrkamp (Ginger), Bill Wehrkamp (Allison), and Beverly Salvatore (Len); his grandchildren Alyssa, Kate, Kyle, Christian, Max, Natalie, Gabriel, Piper, Allie, Nicholas, James, Jacob, and Joe; his great-grandchildren Beau and Jackson; and his nieces Cindy and Wendy and nephew Howard.
Per Tom's wishes, he will be cremated.
