Pamela Yost Obituary Pamela Lee Yost of Hookstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh on Saturday, July 12, 2025, after a courageous seven-year battle with lung cancer. She was 66 years old.
Born on October 3, 1958, in Rochester, PA, Pamela was the daughter of the late Murray D. and Lillie Barker Hughes. As her children grew and became more independent, Pamela took her exceptional organizational skills to the professional arena, working as an accountant for Nova Chemical in Monaca, where she was celebrated for her accuracy and attention to detail. Pam cherished her faith, finding strength and comfort in her relationship with the Lord. Pamela graduated from Hopewell High School in 1976, where she laid the groundwork for her future academic endeavors. Her determined spirit earned her an accounting degree from Beaver County Community College.
Pamela was an avid softball player. She often shared the field with young children. Pamela had a passion for bowling and was an active member of the Beaver County Hill Toppers, where she often showcased her skills and enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow bowlers. She also had a love for games of chance, frequently participating in local events.
Additionally, Pam was a dedicated collector of Homer Laughlin Fiestaware. She took pride in her vibrant collection that brightened her home and brought joy to her family. In addition to her parents, Pam was preceded in death by her brother, Murray J. Hughes, as well as her in-laws, Harry and Arlene Yost, three sisters-in-law, and four brothers-in-law. Pam is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Thomas J. Yost, who is heartbroken by her passing. They were married on May 20, 1977, a union filled with love and shared memories. Also mourning her loss are her children, Thomas J. (Renee) Yost Jr. of Hookstown and Nikki (Brandon) Kondik of Aliquippa. Pam is remembered fondly by her siblings: Joyce Milliron of Hookstown, Janice Yost, Judy Highberger, and Larry Hughes all of Raccoon Township. She took great joy in her role as a grandmother, leaving behind eight beloved grandchildrenJoshua, Luke, and Taylor Jo Yost; Samantha Peterson; Jalyn Hood; Holly Kondik; Gage Hood; and Ellie Kondikas well as a great-grandson, Jaxx Yost. Pam is remembered by Terry and Darlene Mick, close family friends and travel companions. In addition, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins will cherish her memory.
A celebration of Pams life will be led by retired pastor Wilmer J. Olszewski at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Friday, July 18, at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery. Friends and family are warmly invited to visit the Arner Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to share their condolences and fond memories in honor of Pamela's remarkable life. If you wish, the family asks for donations to the South Side Area Community Food Bank or the Community Benefit Committee.
