Thomas Michael "Tom" Young

Thomas "Tom" Michael Young, age 75, longtime Broken Arrow resident entered into the Gates of Heaven on Tuesday afternoon, April 11, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tom was born on September 7, 1947 in Hartford, Connecticut to Frederick "Fritz" and Alice (Coffey) Young, he was the second son of 4 children, Rick Young (Linda), Sue (John), and Margaret (Rob). He attended high school in Simsbury, Connecticut, and then went on to college at Penn State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara (Hummel) Young. They welcomed three children, Kathryn Laporte (William), Matthew (Myra), and Jennifer Morris (Montey). He had 8 grandchildren, Mandy (Stephen), Joshua (Hannah), Jacob (Hannah), Jessica (Clay), Adriann, Olivia, Gracie, and Harper and 9 great grandchildren, Noah, Javion, Savannah, Payton, Emmett, Brandt, Emelia, Everett, and Joshua Jr. Tom worked as a project engineer that enabled him to travel the world, where he enjoyed meeting new people, experiencing new food, traditions and cultures. He retired in 2014 from Zeeco. After retiring, he was able to spend more time supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren at numerous sporting events, dance recitals, and choir concerts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, birdwatching, and painting. Many times were spent at our family lake house boating, searching for deer and challenging his children and grandchildren to games of cribbage. He took pleasure in witnessing their victories and teased them by reminding them that they were supposed to "let the old man win." He was a great storyteller and never left out any of the details. He raised his family to be loving, generous, and giving. He loved the Lord and was excited to meet Jesus. He was preceded in death his parents, "Fritz" and Alice and his wife, Barbara. He will be greatly missed by his family and extended family. He was everybody's Papa Tom (PPT) and was loved by many.
To honor Tom's life and legacy, visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. A Rosary service will follow at 6:30 PM at the Church of Saint Benedict in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 17, 2023, also at the Church of Saint Benedict in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Tom will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
