Thurman J. Evans, born on March 30, 1930, in Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on August 25, 2025. He lived a life marked by service, creativity, and a deep devotion to his family and faith.

Thurman was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a dedication that reflected his commitment to his country and his fellow citizens. After returning from his military service, he pursued a successful career as a mechanical designer, a profession that he enjoyed until his retirement in 1998.

He was not only a mechanical designer but also a gifted artist, inventor, and tinkerer, often exploring new ideas and bringing them to life. He had a passionate curiosity about sailing, frequently dreaming of repairing and restoring his little blue sailboat—a testament to his adventurous spirit. He also cherished his red Mustang, a symbol of his zest for life and an embodiment of his attention to detail and passion for craftsmanship. A devoted man of faith, Thurman was a member of First Baptist Church, he found solace in reading his Bible and living a life aligned with his beliefs. He cherished moments spent with his family, always prioritizing their well-being and happiness. His legacy is one of kindness and generosity, as he was always eager to lend a helping hand to others in need.

Thurman is preceded in death by his parents, Onis and Polly Evans; and four brothers, James Robert Evans, Eugene Evans, Marion Evans and Charles Evans.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of over 50 years, Glenda Evans; children, Tara Dembowczyk (Brian) and Todd Evans (Danielle); grandchildren, Joshua Dembowczyk, Hannah Dembowczyk, Caleb Dembowczyk, Seren Evans and Zavi Evans; brother-in-law, Keith McCamish (Josie); sister-in-law, Jelaine McCamish; as well as many precious nieces and nephews.
