Virgil Martin “Bugs” Curtis Jr., 77, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday August 26, 2025, at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born September 2, 1947, in Daviess County to the late Virgil Sr. and Rexie Lee Acuff Curtis. Bugs retired after 15 years as an Ironworker, Local #103, and he also volunteered at the Help Office. Bugs enjoyed fishing with his grandsons, playing pool and bowling, and loved betting on the horses.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Ray “Pete” Curtis, Richard Thomas “Tommy” Curtis, William Lee “Billy” Curtis and James Marvin “Jimmy” Curtis; and a sister, Donna Jane Curtis.
Virgil is survived by his only daughter, who loved her dad dearly, Kim (Steve) Bruner; grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, and Jason Alexander; great-grandchildren, Keaton, Chandler, Sophia, and Kensley Alexander; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Bugs will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Herschel Morgan officiating. Burial to follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
