Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory - OwensboroGeraldine “Gerri” Carr Jessup, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday August 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 15, 1934, in Muhlenberg County to the late William Carr and Geneva Johns Shelton. Gerri was retired from Owensboro Daviess County Hospital where she was a nurse assistant in labor and delivery. She volunteered at the Riverpark Center and the Common Goods store at Owensboro Christian Church. In her spare time, she loved to travel on bus tours all over the United States, especially with her best friend, Kay Baker. Most of all, Gerri was a wonderful mother and Meme to all of her family, which she treasured and loved dearly.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Herbert Jessup; brothers, Billy Carr and Kenny Shelton; and a son-in-law, Bill McDaniel.
Gerri is survived by her children, Debbie McDaniel, Jeff (Claudia) Jessup, and Kevin (Rose) Jessup; six grandchildren, Deanna (Brian) Honeycutt, Jeremy Lancaster, Clay Jessup, Carter Jessup, Jacob Jessup, and Serenity (Chad) Brantley; eight great-grandchildren, Hailey, Lilly, Riley, Joel, Coco, Clara, Natalie, and Shaelyn; one great-great-grandchild, Ezra; brother, David (Jodi) Shelton; half-brothers, Gene and Desi Carr; a half-sister, Celia Carr; and a niece, Shea (Barry) Davis.
The memorial service for Gerri will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial to follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be held on Saturday September 20, 2025, from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky 3419 Wathen’s Crossing Owensboro, KY 42301.
