Mark Scott West, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at his home while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born March 14, 1950 in Hammond, Indiana to the late James Norman and Phyllis Brough West. Mark was an active member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was a certified lay speaker and trainer for lay speaking. He also was a former member of Bethel Park United Methodist Church in Denmark, South Carolina and Peace Lutheran Church in Owensboro. Mark was retired from sales and management and had worked for Holland Hitch and Tobul Accumulators for a total of 50 years.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Polly Coates West; his children, Jessica West Bratcher (Keith) of Brandenburg and Jonathon Donnell West (Jessica) of Evansville; two grandchildren, Carolyn West and Alex West (fiancé Emily), all three of Evansville; his siblings, Linda Shapley (Jerry) of Kannapolis, North Carolina, Susan Taylor (Don) and Ellen Taylor (Donald), all of Richmond, Virginia, and Paul West of Staunton, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
A Memorial service will be held at Noon Saturday, August 30, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 or to Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, c/o Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 1756, Owensboro, KY 42302. Messages and condolences to the family can be shared at www.glenncares.com.
