Timothy Lee Ruggles was called home by the stars on January 28, 2024 after a courageous year long battle with glioblastoma. Tim was proceeded in death by his father, PFC Robert “Buster” Ruggles and his In-Laws Sara and Charles Lee.
Tim was devoted to his wife of 31 years, Sheri and sons Robert and Michael. He is also survived by his Mother, Linda Ruggles (JR Kennedy); his brothers John Robert Kennedy, Jr., Shawn Kennedy, Christopher Kennedy; sister Tanya Kennedy; Aunts Joyce Dolan and Sharon Briggs (John); cousins Jennifer HuYoung, Karrie Dolan, Brandon Dolan (Rachael), Cory Dolan; Sister-In-Law and Brother In-Law Sharon & Butch Cheatham; nieces Stephanie Ching (Jason) and Chloe Kennedy; nephew Matthew Cheatham; great nieces Kinsley and Rylie Ching; great nephew Colson Ching and special friends Angie & Bill Gallant.
Tim was a 1984 graduate of The Miller School of Albemarle and attended Longwood College. Tim was employed by the City of Lynchburg Water Resources Department. Tim loved the outdoors- hiking, biking, camping and riding his motorcycle. He was always up for an adventure at the beach, in the mountains or under the stars. He was Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America Troop 43 in Amherst and a BSA volunteer for 15 years. Tim was a remarkable man who will be missed by many.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with a memorial service immediately following at 2:00 p.m.
