TIM STRATTON
Henderson, TN: James Timothy Stratton age 72, passed away August 21, 2024, at his home.
He was born October 4, 1951, in Jackson, TN the son of the late James Alvin ‘Jimmy’ Stratton and Mary Idilia Waller Stratton.
He graduated from Jackson High School in 1970 and joined the Tennessee National Guard. He started in the Newspaper business working for the Jackson Sun for several years.
He married Kathleen Stamp in 1980. They moved to Ithaca, New York later Sommerset, KY, and then Waynesboro, VA, while working in the newspaper publishing business, retiring from Media General Communications.
They moved to Henderson in 2004 where he created and published the Jackson Today and then served as executive director of the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce. He served as regional circulation manager and publisher at Chester County Independent.
He was a fabulous musician playing in several bands as an excellent picker. He enjoyed woodworking, fly fishing and golfing.
Mr. Stratton is survived by his wife, Kathleen Ann Stamp Stratton; a son, Tony Stratton (Jessica) of Ashville, N.C. and a daughter, Leah Holman (Jason) of Henderson and four grandchildren, Tyler Holman, Kennedy Hollman, Sky Stratton and Cali Stratton.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 24th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time Saturday.
