Timothy Jay Luneau, 69, passed away on September 11, 2025, following a year's long courageous battle with cancer.
Tim was born in St. Albans – the son of Raymond and Eleanor Luneau. Upon graduation from Castleton State College in VT, Tim moved to Newport, R.I., San Luis Obispo, CA, and then to Boston, MA, where he spent most of his adult life. His multi-faceted career included work in hospitality, as a Showroom Manager at the Boston Design Center, as a model & stylist, as an interior and fashion designer, and as a barber. Tim was known for his incredible sense of style, creativity, razer-sharp wit and spirited humor. Tim was the one everyone wanted to meet at the party.
In the fall of 1992, Tim met his future husband Bruce Rhoades at a Boston Halloween party. Over the next 33 years together, they collaborated on a multitude of interior design and fashion design projects. They established a national retail fashion line – T&B Wear; created costumes for MTV; and collaborated on various residential and retail interior design projects. For over 10 years their design creations garnered 1st place awards at the Annual Fashion Gala hosted by the International Interior Design Association.
Their broad range of design talents also included costumes for numerous theatrical productions. For their work on "Charlies Angels, The Musical" by the noted playwright Ryan Landry, the Boston Globe lauded their – "eye-popping art-house costumes." They also produced special design features for many benefits and charities, including the Boston Boy's and Girl's Club, The Longy School of Music, and the Design Industries Foundation for AIDS. Tim and Bruce were a design force together– their separate skills were uniquely compatible, and exponentially better in their collaboration.
In 2015, Tim and Bruce moved to San Francisco, when Bruce was transferred to Gensler Architects as a Design Director. Upon retirement in 2022, they moved back to New England – to St. Albans, VT, with Tim coming full-circle returning to the town of his youth, his loving family and dear friends.
Tim is survived by his husband Bruce, his sisters Rae Allen (Beau) and Martha Bach (Doug), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Ray and Eleanor, Tim was predeceased by a brother, David in 2017.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 24, 2025, at 12 Noon at the First Congregational Church, 27 Church Street, St. Albans with the Reverend Jessica Moore officiating. A private burial for Tim's family will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In remembrance of Tim, charitable donations may be made to the University of Vermont Cancer Center, Attn: Office of Development, 111 Colchester Avenue, St. Joseph's Hall – 5th Floor, Burlington, Vermont 05401.
