Timothy Patrick Murphy, "Murph" of Alexandria, KY jumped into a '69 442 and drove into eternity on October 10, 2024. At just 64 years old, he left this life too fast and too early. Tim was born on September 9, 1960 to John and Lois Murphy of Park Hills, KY. He was the oldest brother to 7 siblings who he loved and cherished. They grew up on Park Avenue in Erlanger, where life wasn't always the easiest, but their closeness, support and love never wavered. It was in this home where he learned loyalty, the love of family, grit and the meaning of perseverance. Well known and loved in the Oldsmobile world, Tim was a true Oldsmobile enthusiast, a very talented car restorer, and became an icon in the Olds world for his talent, expertise, skill and always being happy to share his knowledge and passion with anyone needing help or inspiration with a restoration. After a 30+ year career with the National Underwriter Company, Tim took his passion of restoration and created Thunder Road Restorations, both a nod to his love of cars and his love of The Boss, Bruce Springsteen. You knew on any given day that Tim was in his garage, listening to the The Boss, working on his cars, screaming at the Reds or the Bengals, and welcoming anyone who stopped in to chat or check out what project he was working on. He was known as the "Dream Maker" or "Mr. Oldsmobile" to many and will be incredibly missed by all of his brothers and sister in the Oldsmobile Club of America and beyond. Tim's most important roles were that of husband, father, grandpa and brother. He built an amazing life with the love of his life, Letty, creating a loving home for their two children, Alisha (aka "Nicki") and Tommy. He was the most loving, caring, selfless and precious father who was always there to lend a hand, listen, give advice, pick you up, rescue you, give you a hug, guide you and could always be counted on to give it to you straight. He was most proud of his role as a grandpa and you would be hard pressed to find someone who loved their grandchildren Jared, Parker and Beckett more than he loved these three boys. He was infinitely proud of each of them, told them he loved them and was proud of them every chance he had. He never missed an opportunity to tell his family how much he loved and cared for them. Without him, the hole in our hearts will never be healed, our lives never the same. Tim is survived by his wife, Letty (nee Steffen), daughter Alisha (Scott) Schweitzer, son Tommy Wogan and grandchildren Jared Wogan, Parker Schweitzer and Beckett Schweitzer. Tim is also survived by his siblings, Karen Jansen, Terry McClanahan, Terry (Deirdre) Murphy, Todd (Kathy) Murphy, Marcie McMillon, Joseph Murphy and Martin (Laura) Murphy. "Uncle Timmy" is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews and 16 great-nieces and great - nephews. He is also survived by best friends, David Fisher, Craig Foster, Nick Fuller and Sheldon Pernell. Tim is going home to Heaven to be with those who left before him, his parents John and Lois Murphy, step-mother Patricia Murphy and sister Kathy McClanahan. He's waited 55 years to be reunited with his mother Lois and we can only imagine how beautiful their reunion was. Tim would ask that you continue to treat each other kindly, tell your loved ones you love them and let them know how proud you are of them every day. Listen to great music, talk and spend time with your family and friends, roll the windows down on a sunny day and blare some Bruce, drink a Mountain Dew and have a Marlboro for him and most importantly..be humble. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Alexandria Funeral Home from 11:00 am until time of Service at 2:00 pm. We ask that you join us after to share stories of Tim at the Alexandria VFW beginning at 3:00. If you are a lover of classic cars, we ask that you please bring your car to the funeral in Tim's honor.
