Timothy Bruce Suter, Sr. age 63 years of Columbia, North Carolina, formerly of Buena, NJ passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, October 31, 2025 from natural causes. He was raised in Gibbstown and was a 1980 graduate of Paulsboro High School. As a Paulsboro wrestler, Tim developed certain attributes including a winning mind set, discipline and sacrifice. He also developed confidence, resilience and a positive attitude which he carried throughout his life. Tim continued to teach these skills to the athletes he coached. He was a volunteer coach for the many sports his children participated in such as soccer, jiu-jitsu, football and wrestling. Tim was a mentor and role model to many athletes in Washington Township, Buena and across the state of New Jersey. Tim dedicated much time to all the athletes he coached throughout the years and was committed to mentoring young men to become the men they wanted to be and they all were his sons.
Tim started his working career with Local #13 as a boilermaker and worked there until his retirement. He also started his police career as a special officer with Gloucester Township Police Department; then the Franklin Township Police Department from 1985 -1987. In 1987 he joined the Paulsboro Police Department and served as K-9 officer in 1995-1997 where he received special accolades for cross training two police dogs – working 400+ certified hours with Dinky and 100+ certified hours with Rocky. Tim took part in many K-9 activities in and around Paulsboro and Gloucester/ Atlantic Counties. He was a member of the emergency response and critical incident teams as well as serving as a firearms instructor for many years. After his retirement from the force he took his knowledge of firearms and ammunition and parlayed that into a part time retirement job at the Gun Rack in Vineland.
Tim spent many vacations hunting game across the United States with family, friends and sometimes his wife where he created special memories for all. He was passionate about hunting and fishing and in his retirement he relocated to Eastern North Carolina. Tim enjoyed watching the bears stop by for sleepovers in his back yard.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa Suter (Nee McNellis) of Columbia, N.C.; his sons, Timothy B. Suter, Jr.(Samantha Greene) of Fredericksburg, VA, Hunter Suter(Rebecca Brown) of Columbia, N.C.; his mother Avilda Mae Suter of Gibbstown; his brothers, Jack and Bonni Suter of Jacksonville, N.C., Fred (Dana) Suter of Gibbstown, Matt Suter of Bethlehem, PA; his sisters, Julie Suter of West Deptford, Lori DeSalvo of Billingsport and Janice and James Jones of Gibbstown; sister in law, Laura Suter of Cary, N.C.; his brothers by another mother, Denton "Denny" and Jane Leash and Donny and Marcie Gentile and also many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mr. Suter was predeceased by his daughter, Amber Lynn Suter; his son, Justin T. Suter; his father, Arnold E. "Tim" Suter and his brother, Jason Suter.
