Todd Duane Mitchell was born on March 16, 1962, in Atkinson, NE. He was the firstborn child of Larry and JoAnn (Putnam) Mitchell. Todd was later joined by 2 sisters Barb and Suz. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Butte, NE.
Todd attended country school at District 10 North of Atkinson and later graduated from Butte High School in 1981.
Todd gained his love of flying at a very young age. He actually obtained his pilot's license before his driver's license, at the age of 15. He and his dad, Larry, made a dynamic team! Many say they were the best pilots in the country. Todd started crop dusting right after he learned to fly. He started on with his dad flying Ag-Cats, then Dromader airplanes that were made in Poland. They shipped them to the US and two mechanics from Poland came and stayed at the ranch assembling them in the hanger. The Dromader airplanes almost doubled the amount of chemicals that could be loaded on the planes. Later they switched to a turbine engine airplane.
Todd's love of flying became second in his life after the birth of his daughter Natina. Natalie, Todd's ex-wife remained close even after Natalie moved to Florida. Todd with the help of Natalie raised an amazing daughter. Todd had Tina on a horse at a young age. She graduated from her naughty Shetland, to a pony, and then finally a full-sized horse. He took her to gymkhana's, fairs, and camping with their beloved horses. Todd was involved in their church, making props and beautiful back drops for the many Christmas and Easter programs.
Todd leaves behind his daughter Tina of Wickenburg, AZ; stepdaughter Natasha (Scott) Peterson of Kansas City; his beloved dog Max (who could mirror Todd's grumpy face); his mother JoAnn of Atkinson; sisters Barb (Randy) Leu of Atkinson and Suzanne Mitchell of Atkinson and their families.
He was preceded by his father Larry and his grandparents.
