James Todd Morris, age 59, of
Corsicana, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Born on June 15, 1965, in Greenville, Texas, Todd was the beloved son of J.D. and Merry "Su" Morris. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend, whose life was marked by service, love, and a deep commitment to his community.
Todd's educational journey began in Corsicana, where he graduated from high school in 1983. A proud moment in his life was playing as the starting All-State Center and starting Defensive Tackle under Coach Don Denbow in the 1982 State Championship football game-a testament to his dedication and teamwork.
In 1986, Todd began his law enforcement career with the Navarro County Sheriff's Department as a Detention Officer. His passion for serving others led him to the Corsicana Police Department in 1990, where he dedicated 35 years of his life to protecting and serving the community. Over the years, Todd held various positions within the department, ultimately serving as Lieutenant since 2017. His commitment to duty and integrity left a lasting impact on those he worked with and the community he loved.
Outside of his professional life, Todd was known for his adventurous spirit. He enjoyed crafting homemade moonshine and flying drones. In January of 1993, he met his soulmate, Candace "Candy" Morris, and they began a beautiful journey together. They were married in 2002 and built a loving home in Corsicana, where they shared countless cherished memories.
Todd had a profound love for animals, and his dogs held a special place in his heart. He was a gentle and caring soul, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh with those around him.
Todd is preceded in death by his father, J.D. Morris, his grandparents Dale Morris and wife Willie, Arval Smart and wife Tommie, his "favorite" aunt Sara Hart, her husband Jerry and cousin Chris. He is survived by his loving wife, Candy; his mother, Merry "Su" Morris; and his sons, Timothy Morris and wife Cynthia, along with their children Rodney Snodgrass-Morris, Aiden Juarez, Anthony Juarez, and Albert Juarez; and Brett Stoner and wife Amber, along with their children Braxton and Asher Stoner. Todd's legacy of love and service will continue to live on through his family and friends.
