Laurens
Thomas Kirkland Hardy, age 74, of Laurens, and husband of Kathryn Poole Hardy, passed away on November 27, 2024, at Martha Franks Retirement Community.
Born in Laurens, Tom was the son of the late Haskell David Hardy, Sr. and Thelma Hudson Hardy.
Tom graduated from Lander University and completed programs in retail bank management at the University of Virginia, the South Carolina Bankers School, and the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Laurens. He retired from the The Palmetto Bank as Executive Vice President and Regional Executive for Laurens County, and from the Laurens Commission of Public Works, having served as a commissioner and held various leadership and service roles in the community.
In his free time, he enjoyed traveling with family and friends, woodworking, golfing with friends at Lakeside, and participating in the annual golf trip. His proudest moments were spent as "Pop," playing ball, miniature golf, and wrestling with his precious grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Thomas Kirkland (Kirk) Hardy, Jr. of Simpsonville and his children, Thomas Kirkland Hardy III, and Ella Kate Hardy; his daughter, Jena Hardy Baxter and her husband Duane (Dewy) of Greer, along with their children, Kathryn Madison Baxter and Bryce Lanson Baxter; his brother, Stephen Craig Hardy of Landis, North Carolina; his sister-in-law, Maritom Sinquefield Hardy of Laurens and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Haskell David Hardy, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 2, 2024, at The Rasor Chapel at Martha Franks Retirement Community, conducted by Rev. Adair Rogers and Rev. Joey Estes. The family will receive friends at Martha Franks immediately following the service. A private family burial will take place at Westview Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and caregivers at Unit One Martha Franks and Lutheran Hospice for their care of Tom.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Martha Franks Retirement Community, 1 Martha Franks Drive, Laurens, SC, Lutheran Hospice, www.lutheranhospice.org, or the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
