Tomi Edwards

Tomi Suzanne Edwards, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at Eskenazi Hospital surrounded by family.
She was born on July 10, 1955, to Thomas Edward and Mary Beatrice Kibbe and grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from Ben Davis High School in 1973.
Tomi built a life of service, compassion, and steady care for others. She began her career as a claims adjuster for American States Insurance before training as an EMT with the Decatur Township Volunteer Fire Department, where she was proud to help her community in times of need. She later brought that same dedication to her role as secretary at Valley Mills Christian Church and eventually to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles at the Beech Grove branch. No matter the setting, Tomi was known for her kindness, reliability, and her humor.
She was a woman of many joys. Tomi loved gardening, fishing, being outdoors, and caring for animals. She enjoyed music and sports, always cheering enthusiastically for the Colts, the Pacers, and IU basketball.
Above all, she cherished her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her son, her grandchildren, and her sisters.
Her greatest happiness was found in shared laughter, family milestones, and simple time together, and her smile always lit up a room.
Tomi was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Kibbe; her husband, Larry Edwards; and her sisters, Michaela Kibbe and Carol Egly.
She is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter in law Kevin and Kristie Hayes; her sisters, Sheryl Cornelius and De Snow, along with her brother-in-law, Mike Snow; and her three grandchildren, Alexander Hayes, Lillian Smith, and Caleb Smith. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will hold her memory close.
A celebration of Tomi's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org.
Tomi's life was one of love, laughter, and strength. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
