Linda Gale Hays Lee, age 81, of Plainfield, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025. She was born on June 21, 1944, in Kokomo, Indiana, and lived a full and joyful life centered around family, faith, and community.
She was a 1962 graduate of Ben Davis High School. She worked for several years at Link-Belt and later retired from Wayne Township Schools, where she made many cherished friendships. After retirement, Linda settled in Plainfield, where she remained active and involved in the community she loved.
Linda was a devoted member of Plainfield Christian Church. Her faith guided her life, and she enjoyed attending services, volunteering in the library, helping and teaching bible school and more. She also supported children in Haiti.
Family was at the heart of everything Linda did. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, Daniel Lee; and her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Hays. She is survived by her son, Kevin Lee (Stacey), and her adored grandchildren, Jackson Lee and Savannah Lee. Linda was the cherished sister of Norman, Nolan, Nathan, and Neal Hays, and Beverly Hays Lenz, and the beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda's happiest moments were spent surrounded by her family, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, attending Christian concerts and Straight No Chaser, volunteering at the Plainfield Library, and enjoying her dogs and cats. She treasured trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Israel and Cubs Spring Training in Arizona. She lived life with a generous spirit, a quick laugh, and an open heart.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care (formerly Shiloh Methodist Church), 641 County Rd 1050 East, Indianapolis, 46234. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m., with burial following at Shiloh Cemetery.
