Tommy Gene Klepper, 73, of Springfield, MO, passed away on January 5, 2024, in Springfield. He was born on May 20, 1950, in Springfield, MO, to the late Donnie and June Klepper.
Tommy was the life of the party and a very kind soul. He was known for being a big teddy bear and the conduit of the Klepper family. Tommy was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and countless friends.
Tommy is survived by his beloved wife, Danja, his son Donald Gene Klepper II, and his grandchildren, Elaine Nicole Klepper and Thomas Monroe Klepper. He is also survived by his Aunt Mary Alice (Peggy) Webb, numeous other loving family members and friends. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Donny and June Klepper, as well as numerous other family and friends, including his favorite dog, Eddie.
Tommy attended Glendale High School, graduating in 1968. He was a member of the football team where he earned the nickname "Stump". He furthered his education at Drury University graduating in 1972. He was a member of the Drury chapter of Lamba Chi Alpha making many life long friends.
Tommy worked as an Engineer at Burlington Northern for 49 years. During his tenure he enjoyed the responsibility of developing many young engineers. Tommy also owned and operated Encore Autosales as a fun side business.
In his free time, Tommy enjoyed floating and fishing. He especially enjoyed golf and the challenges of the game. Those who played a round with Tommy undoubtably experienced the never-ending tweaking of his golf swing. These hobbies brought him great joy and relaxation.
A ceremony to honor and remember Tommy will be announced in the spring. Details regarding the services will be shared at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the charity of your choice in Tommy's memory.
