Mr. Tommy Thaxton of Murfreesboro was pronounced deceased at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon June 22, 2025 shortly after arrival at the emergency department at the Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro after going into septic shock at his Will Drew Drive home.
A cousin, Bro. David Thacxton, officiated at the 1 p.m. Monday afternoon June 30th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed with his parents in the Thaxton section of the Pickett Hiett Cemetery in the Monoville Community.
The family will receive friends on Monday only from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Sanderson in Carthage.
He was one of two children of the late Turkey Creek Community native, Roy Thaxton who died September 25, 1996 at the age of 52 and Red Boiling Springs native Lona Rebecca (Becky) Denson Thaxton who died November 17, 2011 at the age of 62 and was born Tommy Loyd Thaxton in Carthage on February 27, 1968.
Mr. Thaxton had been a student at the Tennessee School for the Blind and later at the Clover Botton Home in Nashville until the closing in 2015.
Surviving is his brother, Dwight Thaxton and fiancée Nikki Villers of the Highland Community; two nieces, Candace Thaxton of the Brooks Bend Community, Adrieanna Cutway of the Gladdice Community; a nephew, Dylan Thaxton of the Highland Community.
