Tracie Jean Hunt made it a short 57 years before departing her earthly home on Friday May 2, 2025. She was born in Salt Lake City Utah on April 9, 1968 to the greatest parents of all time, James Eugene and Lillian East Nelson and was the oldest of 7 children. She spent her early childhood in the Salt Lake City and Bountiful area before the family moved to St. George in 1975. She attended Dixie High School and graduated in 1986.

Growing up Tracie was a self-proclaimed “tom boy” and enjoyed spending time outdoors, softball, and swimming. Swimming became a lifelong love and one of her all-time favorite ways to spend time. She would say she was the reverse Ariel, and wanted to trade her legs in for some fins and stay in the water forever.

Tracie married Alan Hunt July 22, 1987 and soon after had her 3 favorite children, Bradly Scott and twins Erin Mellisa and Alyssa Eryn. Each one giving her a headache and trouble in their own special and unique ways. Along with her own kids, she “adopted” many others who call her mom, due to her non-judgmental, empathetic, loving and caring nature. She had so much motherly love to give, she spread it to whoever needed it.

She spread that motherly love over to all of her 22 nieces and nephews. She loved being Aunt Tracie, teaching them all to swim and building a special connection to each of them.

One of her greatest desires was to become a grandma and after harassing her daughter for 12 plus years, she FINALLY became one! Her grandson affectionally called her “Uhma.” Being a grandma was truly her favorite thing and ultimate joy.

Tracie is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian East Nelson, grandparents Roy and Lucille East, Eddie and Georgia Nelson, and nephew, Brendan McMahon.

She is survived by her father, James Nelson. Her siblings Kim Shorty (Ben), Monica Scott (2700 tinder match’s), A’mee Orchard (Chris), Jamie Holt (Mat), Kristofer Nelson, and Sandi LaPoint. Her children Bradly Hunt, Erin Hunt, and Alyssa Friend (James). Her grand babies, Jameson Kane and Lilly Jean and her many nieces and nephews.
