Tracie Marie Tate, age 58, of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday August 12th, 2025 in Gulfport, MS.
Tracie was a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast, carrying its southern spirit, ever welcoming and resilient. She had an amazing heart, a deep care for her family and friends, and consistently put her loved ones first. She was quick to lend an ear or share a laugh. A lover of animals, Tweety Bird, and the color purple, she found beauty in life’s small connections. Her sense of humor was quick and full of wit, and she had a way of making others feel at ease from the moment they met her. Her three sons were the light of her life, and nothing brought her more pride and joy than watching them grow and prosper into the men they are today. That same love and pride deepened when she became a grandmother, and she treasured every moment with her grandchildren, finding countless ways to be part of their lives. She lived with a heart that was always open and a spirit full of life. Although she was small in stature, her bubbly spirit and infectious laugh filled every room she entered; for this, she will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Tracie was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Vickie and Joey Thompson.
Tracie is survived by her 3 sons, Donald Pate Jr., Daniel Pate, and James Tate; 7 grandchildren, Trinity Pate, Mason Pate, Madisyn Pate, Aubree Pate, Makenna Pate, Quintyn Pate, Millie Pate; 6 siblings Debbie Wright, Sandie Thompson, Josette Watkins, Asgard 'lil Joe' Thompson III, Candace Balius, Toni Balius; father and stepmother, Leon and Charlotte Balius.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20th, 2025 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral home, 675 Howard Ave, in Biloxi. Family and friends may visit from 2:00 pm until service time.
