Travis Monroe Kirkpatrick was born December 4, 1981, in Oklahoma City and left this world September 27, 2022, less than a mile from his birthplace. Travis has served in many roles throughout his life. He was an ornery, but sweet son, a proud brother, a loving husband, and amazing co-parent. To many of you, he was a dear friend, a great listener, and a natural leader. But his most cherished role was a doting father.
Travis spent his childhood running the neighborhood with his brother and friends. He had a love for both music and sports. At a young age, Travis learned Tae Kwon Do and went on to play soccer for many years. He had a beautiful singing voice, and he shared that gift with many of us. He performed in numerous talent shows over the years and sang in the church choir, family funerals and even his own wedding.
Travis graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma and later earned his Masters of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He was a dedicated public servant for 18 years. Travis was a lifelong learner and an unstoppable leader. He served in countless roles to help others, including volunteering for several years as Vice President of the Southlakes Soccer Club where his two children, Madi and Connor played for many years. He also served as Leadership Council Chair for the Earlywine YMCA. Travis was a connector and an innovator. He used his natural gifts to bring people together to achieve something much greater than they could have done alone.
Travis was a positive and ambitious person who worked hard to build a great life for his family. Out of all the wonderful achievements and accomplishments to be proud of, he was most proud to be a dad to Madi and Connor. He loved to make ordinary moments special. He enjoyed cooking the perfect steak for Connor and taking Madi shopping. His favorite way to spend the weekends was to watch both of his kids play soccer, while also hoping to catch at least part of an OU football game. Travis was a giver. He gave big bear hugs, he gave play-by-plays after each soccer game (whether they liked it or not), and endless love and encouragement. His love for Madi and Connor was the force of his life. We are all better for knowing and loving Travis.
Travis was a wonderful man and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 17 years, Daryn Kirkpatrick, of the home; 1 daughter, Madison Kirkpatrick, of the home; 1 son, Connor Kirkpatrick, of the home; his parents, Phil & Cathy Kirpatrick, of Oklahoma City; 1 brother, Brandon Kirkpatrick & wife, Stephenie, of Bethany, Oklahoma his maternal grandfather, Glenn Lamie, of Oklahoma City; 2 nieces and 1 nephew, Baylee, Aiden, and Henley Kirkpatrick, all of Bethany, Oklahoma.
