Mrs. Trena Barnes Brumfield, 82, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday morning, October 30, 2025, at the Kenwood Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on Thursday, December 10, 1942, in Richmond, Kentucky to Jim and Orlena Isaacs Barnes. After attending Kirksville High School, she became a nurse working at the former Pope Hospital in Richmond. However, most people will fondly remember Trena as the Optician at Tinder Krauss Tinder, located on Main Street in Richmond, where she helped countless people with their eyeglasses.
Mrs. Brumfield was a strong and independent woman who was known for her classy style, both in dress and in home decorations, that she was likely to change often. She was an excellent cook and her authentic German Rouladen was always a favorite of her family.
Survivors include: her daughter, Paula Fox (James); her brother, Jim Barnes, Jr. (Jan); her grandchildren, Ashley Isaacs & Jacob Abney; her pet cat, Babes; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: two sons, Randy Abney & David Abney; her grandparents who she lovingly called Granny and Poppy, Effort & Lilly Isaacs; her husband, Paul Chrisman; her husband, Nathan Brumfield; as well as her aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond with her brother, Jim Barnes officiating. Entombment will follow at the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 11:00 AM, Monday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: James Fox, Jim Barnes, Daniel Smith, Brad Gabbard, Jerry Gilbert, Roly Thacker & Wayne Sparks.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Kenwood for their loving care towards Trena during her time there.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Trena are suggested to the Kenwood Activity Fund, C/O Janice Jackson, 130 Meadowlark Dr., Richmond, KY 40475.
